The Charles Richard Campbell (CRC) Foundation is committed to making the world a better place by developing the community to reach its full potential through providing mentorship, education, and resources.
Art Direction, Brand Identity, Print Design
The CRC Foundation was established by the family of the late Charles Richard Campbell to honor his legacy. Charles and his wife, created a family of seven children including prominent NFL defensive end, Calais Campbell. The family had a beautiful idea to honor their father and his philosophies, but needed help bring the concept to life with a full brand identity.
As we discussed legacy, the themes of deep roots and a strong family tree began to emerge. We wanted to incorporate these themes while emphasizing the CRC initials. The mark balances three primary elements symbolizing the core values that grew from Charles' root system - hope, integrity, and belief.
The color system speaks to the idea of life, growth, and opportunity. Charles believed in teaching life skills to young people in a way that would allow them to overcome obstacles and become well-prepared adults. The CRC Foundation is a direct result of his teaching and its mission will allow Charles' legacy to continue for many years to come.
From the initial inception and design work, emerged an ongoing partnership with the CRC Foundation and Calais Campbell. We have collaborated on a number of design projects to provide the primary art direction - from apparel design and print design to support various foundation events.
Ultimately, the work of Calais Campbell and the CRC Foundation was honored with the very prestigious NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year award. This award highlighted the amazing community activism, scholarship, and reading programs built by the CRC Foundation. To partner with CRC from ideation and witness their growth over the years has been a privilege.
